Are you a college student passionate about storytelling, social impact, and local change?
GL News is looking for motivated student correspondents to report on what matters most in our south suburban communities.

🗂️ What You’ll Cover:

As a correspondent, you’ll focus on five key beats:

Economic Development – Track new businesses, job growth, and revitalization projects.
Politics – Cover municipal meetings and local government decisions.
Public Health – Report on health initiatives, disparities, and community well-being.
Finances – Investigate how public funds are spent and budget priorities.
Citizen Highlights – Uplift community voices, leaders, and everyday changemakers.

📊 How You’ll Work:

Use AI tools and CMAP community snapshots to identify trends and guide your reporting.
Participate in virtual newsroom check-ins and skill-building workshops.
Pitch, research, and write 1–2 stories per month with editorial support.

💰 Compensation:

$18/hour | 10 hours/week
13 weeks per year (flexible to accommodate school schedules) – SUMMER
Access to training, mentorship, and bylines in a growing local news network

📍 Coverage Areas:

Calumet City, Chicago Heights, Dolton, Glenwood, Olympia Fields, Riverdale, and South Holland
