Thornton Township has announced a special meeting to fill a vacancy in the Office of Trustee, previously held by Jerry Jones. The meeting will take place on January 21, 2025, at 6:01 PM at the South Suburban College Athletic Fieldhouse in South Holland, Illinois. Doors will open at 5:00 PM for check-in.

- Getting Started: The meeting will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by electing a Moderator to run the meeting. The Moderator will be sworn in before taking on their duties.
- Rules and Nominations: After adopting meeting rules, attendees will nominate candidates for the Trustee position. Each nomination must be supported by a motion and a second.
- Voting for Trustee: Once nominations are closed, attendees will vote to select the new Trustee. The winner will be sworn in immediately and take the oath of office.
- Participation Requirements: Only registered voters in Thornton Township can participate. Attendees must bring a government-issued ID or proof of residence, such as a utility bill or bank statement.
- Orderly Conduct: The meeting must remain orderly. Disruptions, personal attacks, or interference will not be tolerated, and security may step in if needed.
